Our Donors and the Difference They Have Made
The following donor story provides a sense of how donor contributions to St. Andrew’s Village retirement community, part of the Presbyterian Senior Living network of communities, can impact our residents’ daily lives.
The Comforts of Life Room
St. Andrew’s Village has a hospice program called “The Comforts of Life.” When the time comes to confront those final moments, the resident is transferred to the Comforts of Life room where family can stay close. When the Comforts of Life room was originally designated, the furniture was sparse and basic – a bed and several plain chairs. One person observed this situation and saw the need to enhance the room. She donated monies earmarked for the purchase of more comfortable furniture intended to make an emotionally grueling experience slightly more bearable. Though the tears of good-bye do not diminish in this room, residents and families can now share fading moments in a less institutional and more intimate atmosphere.
